Wondering if anyone has tried this and if they have had any success? I would like to take either one of the existing silent tracks and re-record with music tracks to play back. What would the effectiveness be and are there any tweaks to the recording level to consider?

Just follow the instructions as if you were going to use the rain track, and sub your music mp3. Note, though that most of the subs already recorded are much longer than a typical pop song.

Sorry for the delay in posting a reply. It worked quite well overlaying regular music tracks. 6 Hours in the car, led to some very nice surprises on vacation.

I took the outline of scripts on this site and created ones that would play short enough beneath the music. Then I dedicated an entire CD to the one theme. Hopefully in a few days I may have time to share the scripts in the proper forum.

So I am finally getting around to making them silent for the house. I followed the outline, but even at medium volume on the mp3 player I can hear a mumble. At a highest volume I can audibly hear the words!

When creating this using Audacity 2.1.0 I needed to use Nyquist Effect in legacy mode, the syntax caused an error in the newer version.

I know the simple answer is to keep the volume lower, but it is all about the what if’s.

Suggestions to fix this would be appreciated.

Some months back, my wife heard a recorded message, not over music but on a “silent” track that I recorded. Caused quite a ruckus… point is that someone or several someones pointed out to me that if you can make out words the Nyquist did not work. The answer to what caused the Nyquist hic-up is in the old “The Gentle Way” … Hope that helps.

gtbear thanks for the reply! I have gone back and reprocessed and all appear to be silent running now at full volume. Just a low hiss at max volume.

All files are also name and label with arbitrary filename that I can cross reference on my locked pc.

I will look be posting the scripts here shortly.
