    Hi all,
There have been a number of comments in various threads over the years on different playback devise, and I thought I would try to start a thread to consolidate things.

To this day, my primary playback device has been my phone (HTC 8x). It has a decent speaker overall, and when subliminals are played through it the most you can make out audibly is a slight squeak/static, unless you are a teenager ;)

I have also tried a couple of small, rechargeable MP3 speakers with built in microSD card readers, so they can be placed self contained virtually anywhere. With these, I have found two problems that manifest to varying degrees on virtually every model:
    1. They constantly emit light
    2. Whether through some built in noise reduction circuitry, or some other way, they partially decode the file, and the words become clearly audible.

The first issue is somewhat fixable with masking, though if the device itself is visible, the masking could attract attention. The second is a bigger potential problem, as I haven’t figured out how to get around it. I have tried two different speaker models, one has a worse light, but less of an issue with decoding (it still does, but you need to raise the volume past reasonable levels to hear it). The other is totally useless.

    Here is the better one

Here is the one that decodes files. Note that this one comes in many shapes and colors. I believe all use the same working parts, and therefore would suffer from the same issue.

Interesting. I use my iphone and some old phones I have to play all my files. I’ve stopped using computers or laptops. My iphone has the best quality speakers though.

    Hi Fizbin,

Thanks for the information. I would like to see if I understand what you are saying.

The iKross Compact would be your best pick. The only down fall would be the light that it gives off. The other would be the decoding. So as long as I did not turn the sound all the way up it would be ok.

    Am I understanding you correctly?

I think this is why nothing has been working for me when I try this stuff on my wife. The light would not be a problem. The sound part would be no problem also. I told her it was something I was doing to help me sleep at night. I use the subliminal files that have the ocean effect sound and to her and me it just sounds like white noise from a TV. The noise you would here if you went to a channel that had no signal on it.

I hope other people would list the things they are using so maybe I can find something that will work for me.

I have been using a Phillips MP3 Player connected to a Ihome speaker.

I may have to get the iKross if I am understanding you correctly.

    Thanks

That is correct. the iKross seems best. I am actually using it now, as I have found a way to place it so the (EXTREMELY BRIGHT) light is not visible. Also, even though I am using the same file as I was through the phone, I also think I am starting to see some more direct results. (Once I have something definitive, I will try to put together a report.)

I use a couple different players.

Simplyvibe-V3 in the living room (behind the TV stand) and another in the bedroom on top of a tall cabinet.

Aluratek 8″ Picture frame with speaker in her office.

smart phones on the nightstand when traveling together.
I did have issues with her hearing the squeaking sound from a Galaxy Note but not from any other phone.

Guess I’m fortunate in that my wife pretty much always has headphones on on her computer, i do have a digital picture frame as well in the kitchen, pretty well covers the house lol.

    Two questions:
1: Are there any acoustic “side effects”?
2: Does it have any fulltime annoying lights?

No acoustic side effects but it does have a couple very small “pinhole” LED’s.
I covered with a small piece of black electrical tape.

    One note of caution…
It is also an FM receiver and if you press the mode button it switches from FM mode to MP3 mode.
The FM mode can be very loud if you have the volume cranked for subliminal playback.
Not an issue unless you press the button but you probably want to program when you are home alone.
Repeated high level white noise bursts (between stations) definitely draws attention.

Thanks this is all very helpful information. I need a better audio player and never though about some of these ideas. I really like the picture frame idea but how do you put audio in the picture frame just over lap it and mix it I guess? Thanks everyone!!

Picture frames that support audio don’t need anything done to the pictures. You just include the .mp3 files on the same card as the images. The images will display, and the sounds will play. (Some frames may have specific requirements as far as directory structure, though…)

Put a regular music file on the SD card. Find the setting where it plays at a comfortable volume. Pop out the card and delete the regular file, leaving your subliminal in place, and put the card back in the player. All should be well.

Is the picture frame in a home office or a regular office? Curious if I could do the silent at her work without others noticing since it would be in the open on her desk.

I have experimented with making subliminals to use on coworkers. My own subliminals for myself, I play all the time while at work, even with other people around. The only thing I would say is be careful with how loud you put it. One time, I had it on loud and you could hear the squeaking. To me it was barely noticeable, but to my coworker, she heard it and asked what it was. I said my phone was acting up.

If someone has good hearing, they will be able to hear the subliminal which plays in the 15000hz range. Kids can usually hear at that range, but adults can’t. The most kids or adults would be able to hear is squeaking. They won’t be able to make out the words of it.
