Different versions lead to confusion

I don’t know which version of text aloud or Audacity are used in the ebook but my vrsions are TextAloud 3.0.37 and Audacity 2.1.1. I am new to Audacity and do not know what I am doing so I follow the ebook exactly. My problem is the different menus in this version. For example, the step effect -amplify. Audacity has Amplification (db) or New Peak Amplitude. Told you I was a beginner. Which setting should I adjust and should I use the -44.2 setting? It would help to have an updated version of the ebook procedure published, even here in the forum. Maybe just a list of the changes would do it. I would hate to play a silent for a month and then find out there is nothing on it, know what I mean?

TextAloud and I seem to get along ok. No big problems there.

Ok, I totally removed Audacity from my PC and downloaded from your link, installed it and Lame for mp3. Still get the same menus. version is 1.3.13 beta. Am I installing something wrong?

What pc do you have, windows or mac?

The computer thinks you are still using the newer version of Aud…

HP Touch 15 laptop with Win 10, 8 gig ram and 500 gig hd. I uninstalled Aud with the Win uninstall tool, deleted all downloads and local directory, and restarted the machine. That should have done it unless there are some configs in the registry that it left over. Tried Regvac to clean up the registry but it hung up, probably a Win 10 update issue.

Ah I want to try Windows 10 on my laptop later. Right now it has 8 which is okay.

So your Windows 10 try to do a system restore going back before you installed Aud on the pc…

I tried a restore but didn’t have a pre-Audacity restore to use. I used my earliest but no help. tried the uninstall, cleanup and reinstall with another clean download but no help.. Still the same menus. I had version 1.3.13 on the splash screen but the same menus again. Any other ideas?

I decided to take a different look at the problem. I installed audacity on my desktop computer that has never had it on before. I installed 1.3.13 and it too came up with the odd menus.
Windows 7. So that points to Audacity rather than the machine.

Out of a bit of frustration I went ahead and tried to build my hypnosis trust silent. In the Amplification I put the -44.2 . Then the waveform went flat line. even after the re-sample the line was flat. after the Amplification I did exactly as the ebook indicated and created the mp3. Now my question is, how can I tell if I have a subliminal or a blank file?

If you followed the eBook to the letter you should be fine. Just go slow and test any new custom for possible results.

Normal when you I make a self hypnosis file. I put the full self hypnosis audio replacing the music right. And I have subliminal messages play in the background of the self hypnosis…

When you play the file in Audacity there should a sound b at the top registering sound If a file doen’ show movement in the sound bar I simply increase the volume. windows media player should have something similar in it’s visualization menu.If you see the visualization it’s good.ope this helps.

Ok, as my username says I am not a youngster anymore and some things come to me slowly. First, I found the video on how to do Audacity. In the video I verified that the menus are the same as I was seeing so my Audacity is ok. The ebook needs corrected. Second, I rebuilt my hypnosis trust script and have it ready, as previously stated, was not aware that you could play the finished subliminal in Audacity and see the output. Thanks tonguester I now know I can do that. Took a bit but figured it out. My script looks the same as trainers so must be working ok. I am playing it for her but will be a while before I see results. Just trying to get her trust in me to let me do that initial hypnosis.
